Oregon Weight-Mile Tax (No Diesel Tax)

Oregon does not charge diesel fuel tax to trucks over 26,000 lb GVW. Instead, all heavy trucks must pay the Weight-Mile Tax (WMT) through the ODOT Motor Carrier Transportation Division.

How It Works

Register with ODOT MCTD before entering Oregon. Report miles quarterly (or monthly for high-mileage carriers). Rates vary by declared GVW and axle count.

Temporary Permits

Non-registered carriers can buy a temporary WMT permit at ports of entry. Expensive per-trip; enrollment is cheaper for regular routes.

Ports of Entry

Ashland (I-5 S), Woodburn (I-5 N), Umatilla (I-84), Cascade Locks (I-84 W), Klamath Falls (US-97). All check WMT status.

Fuel Purchases

Diesel at Oregon truck stops is priced without the per-gallon truck fuel tax — but IFTA still applies. Track Oregon miles separately in your IFTA report.
