Truck Driving in Newark / Port of NY-NJ

Port Newark–Elizabeth Marine Terminal is the largest East Coast port. Drayage is dominated by NJ Turnpike tolls, GWB height, and dense refinery/warehouse geography.

Terminal Access

APM, Maher, GCT Bayonne, PNCT — all require SeaLink RFID plus TWIC. Appointments via TIPS or terminal-specific portals.

Bridge Restrictions

Bayonne Bridge raised to 215' air draft. Goethals is fully truck-legal. Verrazzano is truck-legal but heavy tolls. Lincoln/Holland Tunnels prohibit trailers over 40'; GWB is the primary truck Hudson crossing.

Turnpike Tolls

NJ Turnpike is EZ-Pass. Class-based tolls; a 5-axle NJT one-way from Newark to Delaware Memorial is ~$70. Consider Bestpass for consolidated billing.

Parking

Extremely tight. Bloomsbury (I-78), Cranbury (NJTP 8A), Woodbridge, Carteret. Long Island crossings require heavy planning.
