Rate Confirmation (RateCon)
A signed agreement between broker and carrier confirming the rate, route, and conditions of a single load.
A rate confirmation (often called a RateCon or carrier packet confirmation) locks in the freight rate, pickup and delivery details, special instructions, and accessorial terms before dispatch. Carriers should sign and return the RateCon before pickup; it controls invoicing.
Example
A RateCon shows $2,400 linehaul, $200 detention after 2 hours, pickup at 09:00 in Memphis, delivery at 14:00 next day in Dallas.
