Real-Time Driver Tracking That Actually Saves Battery

Most "real-time" driver tracking apps are either (a) inaccurate because they only ping every 5-10 minutes or (b) battery killers that leave drivers stranded with a dead phone at a truck stop. We built ours to be both accurate and respectful of phone battery.

Adaptive polling

When a driver is in transit on a load, we ping every 30 seconds. When they are stopped at a shipper for an hour, we drop to every 5 minutes. When they are off-duty, we stop entirely. Battery drain on a typical day-cab smartphone is under 8% over a 14-hour shift.

Background-aware

On both iOS and Android, the driver app uses the proper background geolocation APIs. The location stream survives the app being backgrounded, the screen being locked, and even brief network drops — buffering pings and sending them when connectivity returns.
